Grilled Easter Banana Boats

Grilled Easter Banana Boats

This fun, easy and inexpensive recipe has been a family Easter tradition for as long as I can remember. We make it on Easter Sunday and it's one that my son absolutely loves! It only takes around 15 minutes from prep to finish and can be eaten all year round!

These are a cross between a Banaoffee dessert (because I add caramel on the banana) and S'mores. Great to enjoy camping or at home. So yummy!!

Grilled Easter Banana Boat Recipe

Ingredients

1 semi ripe banana
6 mini marshmallows
3 mini Easter eggs
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup of unsalted butter
1/2 cup full cream thickened cream

Method
  1. Melt butter, sugar and cream in a saucepan until well combined and thick. This will make a caramel sauce. Put aside until needed.
  2. Preheat a BBQ and use the grill grate. If you don't have a BBQ, use an oven or even a microwave.
  3. Using a knife, slice the banana lengthways half way into the banana. Fill the banana with 6 mini marshmallows and 3 mini Easter eggs.
  4. Place the banana onto direct heat and cook for 10 minutes or until the banana has soften, the chocolate has melted and the marshmallows have slightly toasted. Then top with the warm caramel sauce.

Serve immediately with whipped cream and chocolate flakes. You could also add ice cream and strawberries!
