From time to time, I go on little food explorations! One of my favourites is the wonder of the BURGER!
What are the ingredients that go into the making of the perfect burger?
I want you to roll up your sleeves and prepare to get 'e-messy' as we go on this burger journey together....
There's no denying it, an oozing egg yolk makes a simple burger indulgent. Depending of course on how gooey, creamy and bursting with flavour the yolk is. I like using fresh organic free range eggs in my burgers. The flavour and colour deliciously explodes in your mouth!
Is it the cheese used in the burger? I like using American cheese and love how melted, creamy and gooey it gets! I buy it from Costco but you can use any cheese that melts well - Colby, Swiss etc....
Or is it the bacon?
I cant remember the last time I made a burger without bacon! To get the tastiest eggs, try cooking them in your left over bacon fat! The flavour is to die for!
My burger explorations always bring me back to my favourite ingredients. A big burger consisting of cheese, onions, bacon, egg, beetroot and lettuce! To me, that's what makes the perfect burger!
I love using the Space Grill to make burgers. It heats up fast and I can cook everything on the hotplate all at once.
Now for the recipe!
Homemade burger patties recipe
This recipe is delicious for homemade burgers and meatballs. Freezes well too!
Ingredients
500 grams lean minced (ground) beef
1 diced Spanish onion
3 minced garlic cloves
1 egg
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 cup chopped fresh parsley
1 tablespoon ground sweet paprika
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon dried mint
2 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
Method
Combine all ingredients in a bowl until well combined. They're now ready to roll into balls for meatballs or into patties for burgers.
