My Grilled Prawn Bao Buns are quick and easy to make. They can be served as a quick snack or a fancy starter.
Ingredients
24 Raw King Prawns (can be fresh or frozen)
12 – 24 Frozen Bao Buns (12 bao buns - 2 prawns each/24 bao buns – 1 prawn each)
To serve – ¼ cabbage and bean shoots
For the Prawn Seasoning
4 tbs sweet paprika
1 tbs garlic powder
1 tbs onion powder
2 tsp salt
1 tbs dried oregano
1 tbs dried thyme
1/2 tbs pepper
2 tsp turmeric
2 tsp celery salt
Method
Add all ingredients into a bowl and stir until well combined. Use as needed. Any left over seasoning can be stored in a mason jar for up to 2 months.
For the Seafood Sauce
1 cup Mayonnaise
1/4 cup ketchup (tomato sauce)
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 garlic clove, crushed
Juice of half a lemon
Method
Combine all ingredients. Set aside until needed.
Coat the prawns with oil and seasoning. Place in the fridge for at least 30 minutes or 4 hours of you have time, prior to using.
Wash, pat dry and shred cabbage of choice. Wash and chop the coriander (cilantro) and the bean shoots. Set aside until needed.
Preheat BBQ and grill the prawns for 3-4 minutes a side. Cover loosely with foil.
Prepare bought Bao Buns according to packet directions.
To assemble - shredded cabbage, coriander (cilantro) and bean shoots to the bao buns and top each with 1 to 2 grilled prawn and my seafood sauce.
