Pulled pork cooked in one of my smokers is always a family favourite! It makes the tastiest pork tacos and the yummiest sandwiches. You too can cook a tender pulled pork at home using a pellet smoker or offset, a charcoal grill or even your indoor oven!
Here's my recipe!
Method: Cooked Low & Slow - Using indirect heat.
Total cook time: 8 Hours - smoker / 5 Hours - charcoal grill or indoor oven
Ingredients
2 - 2.5 kg (8oz-5lb) deboned, rolled and in netting.
Your favourite commercial rub (I have used Pit Brothers BBQ Pork Rub )
Olive oil (to brush pork)
Basting Liquid
1 cup apple juice
1/2 cup olive oil
1/4 cup liquid stock (vegetable)
1 tablespoon of Pit Brothers BBQ Por Rub
Method
Step one - Brush pork shoulder with olive oil and apply a generous amount of BBQ rub.
Step two - Leave to marinate overnight in the fridge.
Step three - Allow to reach room temperature before cooking (usually takes about 30-45 minutes)
Step four - Mix together the ingredients of the basting liquid and set aside.
Step five -Preheat smoker (You'll need to maintain a temperature of 250-275f)
Step six -Place the pork shoulder into the preheated smoker and cook for two hours (unwrapped) or until the pork has a nice colour.
Step seven - Brush the pork every 30 - 45 minutes with the basting liquid.
Step eight - Wrap in foil after 2 hours and continue cooking for a further 6 hours. (continue to brush with basting liquid - yes you will need to unwrap it slightly whilst you do this. Be sure to wrap back up)
Step nine - The pork will soften and shred easily once it reaches an internal temperature of 200 - 205f
Step ten - Allow to rest wrapped in foil for at least 20 minutes before shredding.
Makes AMAZING Pork Tacos! Drizzle with your favourite BBQ sauce for extra flavour.
