I am not a fishmonger or an expert scallop shucker but when I buy fresh scallops closed and in the shell, I do the following and it gets me by:-
- Insert a butter knife and pop the shell open, releasing the side muscle.
- Give them a rinse (removing the membrane).
Freshly shucked scallops are delicious grilled over charcoal or cooked over direct heat on a BBQ.
They take 2 minutes to cook and are totally delicious.
